My Home Before & After on the Island of Tenerife

In this section I will be sharing with you the photos of our home on the island of Tenerife.  Tenerife is the largest of the seven islands that make up the Canary Islands which are located off the west coast of Africa.  The Canary Islands belong to Spain. Each island is VERY different. The most important factor in our search for a home was its location.  Living on an island we wanted a beautiful view.  After seeing over 250 homes on all the islands, we decided on this gem! I think we were crazy at the time. Most homes on Tenerife in a prime location with a good view were constructed some 30 to 40 years ago.  Such is the case of our home.  We had MAJOR renovation ahead of us and believe me it was a real nightmare.  It was a challenge to say the least getting work done in the Canary Islands where there are more holidays than in Spain (the pennisula) more holidays than ANYWHERE for that matter-65 last count! Believe me, very hard to get anything done.

My other half and I complement each other perfectly:  apart from his many other talents, he's the tech guy; he leveled all the floors and got our jacuzzi to fit into the masterbath when they said it couldn't be done! He did all the electrical wiring and he did a beautiful job with all the outdoor lighting..  Be sure to look at the house lit up at night…it's Hollywood!   Thanks to him, and on the island our house is technologically advanced with electric under-the-floor-heating, a central vacumm system, thermostates, a sophisticated alarm system with security cameras,  a central water filtration system, etc.  We even have a live webcam so you can share the view!  What is more, the constructor used to say this isn't a house but it is the Pentagon!  My part of the house renovation was the decorating and mosaic/tile work-I grouted the entire inside floors of our home!

Although we still have some work to do among other things: the outdoor bathroom,  the outdoor pool shower and sauna, a garage and a huge room downstairs are yet to be finished.  But we are now delighted with the results.  Come on in, take a peek and tell me what do you think!
