  • Easter Eggs From Men's Silk Ties

Just in time for EASTER .  I've decorated many eggs over the years but this is my favorite technique and they are made from men's silk ties.    They are fun to make, even with children, and can be given as gifts!  Thanks to MARTHA STWEART.   Here are the instructions but there is a video available too on her website:

This is my magnificent mirror  bar.  I'm sure we all agree, having an outdoor kitchen is really fantastic, if you have an indoor one that is.   The problem here was I had to wait two full years before I had an indoor kitchen!  It has a rustic flair because we used recycled telephone poles and wall-to-wall stone.  I'll be showing you step-by-step from start to finish photos on how I did the bar.  The best part is, all the mirrors were  curbside treasures so there was very little cost involved.  People tend to throw out mirrors that break, and I tend to break mirrors that people throw out!  Anyhow, I hope you like it! • Men's Silk Neckties

I do a lot with men's ties.  You can find them easily at flea markets and tag sales, some vintage and others new.  Or, who knows, a few of the men in your life may have some hanging around!  This is one of the many footstools I've made from pure 100% silk vintage ties.  No sewing required.  The ties are weaved and then just knotted on the opposite side of the footstool.   It's the patchwork look without all the work.  Isn't this cool?

These vintage tie pillows have to be sewn, sorry.  For the pillows on the left there is much more sewing involved, but look how pretty they come!  The pillows above only need a few stiches on the sides after the weaving of the ties . (…)

  • More Ties!! Tie Sunglass/Reading Glass Cases

Big glamorous sunglasses are the trend lately. I used to just throw them in my handbag, but they would get scratched. (…)

Looky here what I found on the curb!  Isn't this small chair adorable?  As you can see it needed some work.  After working on the woodwork with wood putty and stain, I decided to upholster it in a unique way, with layers of different textures of fabric.  To top it off, I had these small satin bullfighter capes that were Spanish souvenirs in the 70's and they give it the Spanish flair I was talking about!  I love it and the best part is it was   F-R-E-E!
